Patagonia 2011, part 1

On December 28 a group of 8 people gathered at an airport in Paris and set out for a three and a half week’s trip to conquer Patagonia and return with stunning pictures from both the southeren parts of Chile and Argentina. Without any problems whatsoever three days later, on New Year’s Eve, they entered the ferry “Evangelista” from Navimag at Puerto Montt. Well, almost. Driving my Nissan X-trail together with Barbara and Lassi on the Pan American highway (Ruta 5) from Santiago down to Puerto Montt, I was stopped by the police and asked to show the papers – probably driving too fast – because the policemen were equipped with a laser gun. But luckily, after checking the papers they just let us continue, laughing.  Ahead were 3 nights/4 days down the Chilean fjords to Puerto Natales  – the gate to Torres del Paine National Park.

A special T-shirt was made for the group by Caricaturate.com, owned by Vicho Friedli, a friend of mine. And it looked like this:

And properly dressed we were now prepared to meet the Chilean fjords.
