Nye regler for bruk av åte i forbindelse med fotografering

Miljødirektoratet har innført nye regler for fotografering og bruk av åte fra 1.1.2020!

Her er link til disse nye reglene:

https://www.miljodirektoratet.no/aktuelt/nyheter/2019/desember-2019/utlegging-av-ate-reguleres-i-ny-forskrift/

Fra 1.1.2020 er utlegging av åte til store rovdyr og i visse tilfeller kongeørn ikke tillatt dersom det dreier seg om fotografering! Nærmere info finnes i linken ovenfor!

NB!

For en mer omfattende NORSK versjon klikk på fanen i menyen over her 🙂

Experience/photograph wild and free-ranging animals – like Bears, Wolves, Wolverines and birds

Wolf and bear September 2018 Paradise, Wildlife Finland © Asle Hjellbrekke/NN

Place: Company Wildlife Safaris, Finland‘s place in No Man’s Land on the Finnish-Russian border in Kuhmo, Finland, about 160 kms from the airport of Kajaani.

The Company is owned by well-known and highly awarded photographer Lassi Rautiainen (and family) who is a pioneer in photographing wild animals and has about 30 years of experience in this. We have been close friends for several decades and have together arranged my trips for the last 14 years.

Center of activity: Base camp KUIKKA where all the photo trips start each day (usually leaving after dinner by car to the photo hides) – and were the participants have room with bed and spend daytime with meals like breakfast and dinner. Connection to Internet here is free and cell phones works perfectly in most of the area including photo hides (where cell phones have to be on Silent all the time).

Workshops: As an IT-consultant (including teaching at many levels) and Pro Nature Photographer for nearly 40 years, I will arrange different “activities” during daytime according to the paticipants wishes. Subjects can be related to information about the animals and photo hides, computers, software, photo equipment and use and “slide shows” of different kind about nature and animals.

My trips in 2020 (others can be arranged):

July:                Monday 13. – Saturday 18.     (max 5 nights).

September:  Monday 21. – Saturday 26.      (max 5 nights) most beautiful                                                                                    autumn colors at this time.

Price for 2020: EUR 245/night is a discounted prize (about 10%) and include all the costs for the stay and transport to the photo hides.  Do not include travel costs between participant’s home place and Base Camp Kuikka where the photo trips start each day.

Usually participants arrive at the airport of Kajaani (or another airport in the area) where they will be taken care of and then will be driven by car to Kuikka. Details about the travel to Kajaani and/or Kuikka will be specified with my help – if needed.

Important:  Have a look at http://www.wildfinland.org for detailed information (several languages) about how everything is and is arranged in Finland.

Interested in more info or joining me on one of my trips:  Contact me on FB (Asle Hjellbrekke), Email   ah-foto@online.no, telephone int+ 47 90799834.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Chile 1.12.2011 – 29.02.2012

To be three months in Chile is and will be fantastic, but very busy. When not photographing or driving car the rest of the time is spent eating and sleeping (more or less).

The first leg on this trip is ended. 5 weeks in the north of Chile resulted in more photos than I like to think about when it comes to post processing. In addtion we drove 8000 kms on this trip – oh, yes, Chile is really a long country with a lot of ups and downs if you visit the Altiplano (the plains between the Andes mountains) a lot.

The last vist to the Altiplano was a short one. Arriving at about 4500 and overlooking Laguna Legia hell broke loose. Hale, snow and several lightnings per minute close by was terrifying considering the 20 liters of gasoline on the roof of the car. Well, everything ended good as you can understand :-).

But do not drive eagerly into the desert to look for owls and forget about the dead cacti lying on the ground as we did. Two of our brand new Toyo all terrain tyres got a lot of holes. But they were leaking air very slowly so we made it back to Santiago by filling air at a gas station every 4 hours. Later all four were checked and the two bad ones fixed for NOK 240 :-).

After about a week in Santiago we are leaving on Tuesday for the south of Chile. Especially along the 1000 kms of Carretera Austral includiing a trip to Argentina for some days. Bought a Nikon AW100 to be used in the extremely beautiful and exciting marble caves filled partially with freshwater in  one of the lakes down there 🙂

Here are some photos from the trip (will be updated now and then if time permits and connection excists):

Atacama, Chile: Flowering desert – Desierto florido – Blomstrende ørken 2010

October and part of September 2010 was spent in the flowers of the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile. 2011 is an even better year with flowers and will last for some more weeks probably quite a while into December at least in some places. My wife and I will arrive 1st of December in Santiago and will immediately go to the north to look for the flowers.

Here are some flowers from 2010/Aquí hay algunas imagenes tomadas el 2010:

Saturday October 15th – visiting Tisleidalen, Norway

Together with Helge Eek I paid a rather short visit to an area i Valdres called Tisleidalen situated about a 1000 m asl. This was during the annual fall meeting of Norsk Naturfotografer (Norwegian Nature Photographers). The mountains were very beautiful with their zebra stripes of black and white. The marshes around the lakes were rather dangerous to approach because they were not properly frozen, but anyway we tried and at least I got very wet on my feet as a result of that.

Ulv og bjørn, wolves and bears – Finland, september 2011

Incredible 3 weeks were spent in September at the Finnish-Russian border in Kuhmo, Finland. Lassi Rautiainen and his family and staff hosted nearly 40 Norwegian photographers during this time – and like always it was a very pleasant stay. As their  guide I like to thank all these photographers for the very good time we had together. The same goes for all the other friendly people I met there – thank you to you all!

The main items on the menu for this time were the wolves and bears even though a few paticipants also had interest in wolverines. And as always in this place, the experience of seeing and hearing these wild and free-ranging animals was fantastic. And most of the photograpers were also very satisfied with the photos they got.

After 18 nights in the hides I have to admit that I got quite a nice addition to the photos I already had from there. Like to share some of my shots from these three weeks even though I am far from having processed all the photos…

On a rainy Saturday morning…

It is the 20th of August 2011 and a rainy Saturday morning when a Bullfinch family comes  to visit a Lilac by the porch. During the summer a couple of these birds have been regular visitors, but this family is new acquaintance. They were attracted to the place by some seeds of sunflower left here and there by others. The father was soon eagerly feeding the youngsters. In addition some rather young Chaffinches were flying around this morning. Here are a couple of shots from the visits.

5 nights – Midnight Sun and Lunar Eclipse

The month of June is definitely a very good time to see Norway. And especially if you in a few days can experience both the midnight sun, a lunar eclipse, the abundance of flowers and greens and wildlife that the nature provides at this time of the year. Living a 120 kms north of Oslo it is necessary to travel north of the Arctic circle to see the midnight sun. Being visited by two dear friends from Chile who were screaming for to see this marvellous wonder by their own eyes, the 11th to 13th were spent in the Bodø area of Norway where the weather was just perfect with just a light breeze and a little clouds here and there. Back in the taiga forest of Løten the night between the 15th and 16th gave a glimpse of a very beautiful lunar eclipse. Sorry to say, due to cloudy weather it was just a glimpse at the very end of the eclipse a few minutes just after midnight. But the Nordic night is bright and the atmosphere in the photos got just awesome without any heavy work in Photoshop.

So here are some photos from 5 exciting nights – and days…

A Magic Moment – after all

At about six o’clock today in the evening I was at the porch with my camera and the 200-400mm lens + 1,7x teleconverter.  A red squirrel was around in the trees and it had been raining for some minutes. Suddenly I heard a bird screaming and I caught a short glimpse of a small bird being chased by a bigger one. A split second later the small one flew straight into one of the big windows on the porch with a loud noise and fell to the floor just a meter away from me. The bird was a Eurasian Siskin and was laying lifeless there. I feared the worst and stood only looking for a while. Suddenly she started to move, but just  ending up in an even more ackward position with the head and one wing in a very unnatural pose. I thought, that was that, now this life has ended. But after a while she  started to move again and trying to raise her head she came into an even stranger position with eyes closed. And what happend next was really a magic moment to experience. The head was lifted even higher and suddenly the most beautiful tune I have ever heard came from the bird. It lasted for several seconds and was very faint, but being on my knees and thus very close to the bird I could clearly hear it. It stopped, and the bird was not moving at all. I thought that was the last ‘song’ from this one. But believe it or not, suddenly the the tune startet to sound again! It lasted even longer this time. And when it stopped – to my big superise – the bird shook itself a couple of times, opened the one eye I could see and the head went into a normal position!

Since she was laying in the water on the porch I then gave her a little help and moved her gently to a drier place, but she did not want to leave my hands, though. and she did not seem to be afraid of me at all. I found no broken wing or legs so I got a hope that she was safe and sound and only a little shocked. After about ten minutes of small talk and a few photos she suddenly flew away without problems and saying no goodbye – and left me very happy and another Magic Moment richer…

Here she has just come back to life with legs and wings in disorder.

Looking better here.

Both photos taken with the equipment mentioned above at ISO 3200 and f/8.

Wood anemone and such just before our national day

At last the rain cleared away for almost a day here in the beginning of the taiga forest where I live, but the forecast for our National Day – the 17th of May –  is not promising. The wood anemone has changed its color to dark pinkish and is nodding in the wind and smiling to the sun which is right now close to setting. I just spent an hour crawling around in may garden hunting these elusive creatures with a Micro-Nikkor 200mm or 10,5 mm Fisheye DX lens fitted on my D3S. No tripod, everything including me was laying flat on the ground. Really love both lenses. The fisheye was used at ISO 200, f/22 and 1/15 second and focused at closest distance. The petals of the flowers were actually touching the front element of the lens. What a depth of field! And luckily the wind calmed down a second now and then. In addtion to the flowers I have thrown in for a good measure some other motifs from my garden taken the very last days. Please enjoy…

Spring – last part of April 2011

The trees got green leaves one week before the end of April this year. Very seldom this has happened and actually more than a hundred years ago since the average temperature of April has been this high. Being busy with other work, the time spent lately could have been more. But here I post some of the photos taken during the last part of April.

Thanks for your visit and welcome back another time…

Dreamscapes – spring is in the air

Yesterday on April 23 the Kynnavassdraget waterway southeast of Elverum tempted with fresh spring air and a symphony of sounds and colors that delighted all senses. The mind kept on working with these items during the night and here is what I saw in my dreams…

All photos taken with Nikon D3S, 200-400mm/4, ISO 1600, handheld.
